Thattekad, part 2

De dag na aankomst een jeep safari gedaan
Deze heb je natuurlijk in veel toeristenplaatsen in de wereld, maar deze was wel echt de moeite waard.  Ik was de enige,  dus dat gaf wat met bewegingsvrijheid. We zijn echt off road gegaan in bergachtig gebied. Ook dwars door een wilde rivier, dat wat super tof.

In de middag veel in de omgeving gelopen met één van de personeelsleden die vrij was. Gezellig lopen kletsen en van de omgeving genoten. Er heerst echt een gemoedelijke sfeer in dit kamp.
In de avond kwamen er ook andere toeristen. Met één koppel gingen we de volgende ochtend  volgens spotten.

Het was vroeg opstaan, maar dat is wel nodig als je veel vogels wilt zien. Ruim 4 uren gelopen, maar dan wel traag. Ik kwam erachter dat vogelspotters een apart slag mensen zijn.  Ze hebben gigantische verrekijkers en camera's en houden alles bij in een boekje.  Maar ik genoot op mijn manier,  kijken en genieten.

In de middag heb ik een mountainbike geleend en erop uit getrokken. Uiteindelijk bij de hanging moving bridge uitgekomen en de moed gevonden om eroverheen te lopen. Niet echt last van hoogtevrees gehad. Was grappig want al die Indiërs zwaaien naar mij of beginnen een praatje.

In de namiddag nog tweeëneenhalf uur birdwatching gedaan en nu heb ik dat ook wel gezien. Ik trek liever op mijn eigen tempo eropuit.

Daarna bekaf en even gerust. De avond going het super hard en oorverdovend regenen. Toch is ook dat best gaaf, als je zelf droog zit.

De volgende dag ging ik verder naar de volgende locatie met een yevreden gevoel. Wat een leuke tijd had ik daar.

Thattekad part 2

Did a jeep safari the day after arrival Of course you have this in many tourist places around the world, but this one was really worth it. I was the only one, so that gave me some freedom of movement. We really went off road in mountainous areas. Also straight through a wild river, which is super cool.

In the afternoon we walked a lot in the area with one of the staff members who was free. We had a nice walk, chat and enjoyed the surroundings. There is a really friendly atmosphere in this camp.

In the evening other tourists also came. I went bird spotting with one couple the next morning.

It was an early start, but that is necessary if you want to see a lot of birds. We walked for more than 4 hours, but slowly. I discovered that bird watchers are a special breed of people. They have gigantic binoculars and cameras and keep track of everything in a book. But I enjoyed it in my own way, watching and enjoying.

In the afternoon I borrowed a mountain bike and went out. Finally arrived at the hanging moving bridge and found the courage to walk over it. I didn't really suffer from fear of heights. It was funny because all the locals all wave at me or start chatting.

In the afternoon I spent another two and a half hours birdwatching and now I have done that, seen that. I prefer to go out at my own pace.

Back at the camp I was a bit tired and rested for a while. In the evening it rained very hard and deafeningly. Still, that's also pretty cool, if you're under a roof outside.

The following day I left the camp with a big smile. It was a great time there.
